Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary and Assembly in-charge, Phillaur, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary inaugurated medical equipment worth Rs 55 lakh at the Civil Hospital here on Monday.
The newly installed equipment included a phacoemulsification machine costing Rs 19 lakh, phototherapy radiant warmer (Rs 6 lakh), digital X-ray machine (Rs 5 lakh), auto refractometer (Rs 6 lakh), automatic microscope (Rs 13 lakh) and a generator set (Rs 5 lakh). Speaking on the occasion, Vikramjit Chaudhary said the Capt Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Government was leaving no stone unturned to make medical treatment affordable and accessible to every person.
He said, “The new equipment would provide quick and high quality health care to the people of Phillaur and surrounding areas. We are making sure that poor people can such facilities at a negligible cost.” The government hospitals of the state were being equipped with the latest machines and technology so that they could provide health care to people on a par with top private hospitals.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, launched by the Punjab Government last year, has provided a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to millions of people of the state.
Those present on the occasion were SMO Jatinder Singh, Makhan Singh Khaira, Surjit Singh Pehelwan, Rakesh Duggal, Harmesh Lal, Pamma Akalpur, Jeeta Rupowal, Happy Johal and Kamaljit Singh Bittu, Narinder Goyal, Vaibhav Sharma, Davinder Lasara, among others.
