Ludhiana: Five mobile phones have been recovered from inmates of the Ludhiana Central Jail.



Ludhiana: Five mobile phones have been recovered from inmates of the Ludhiana Central Jail. The inmates have been identified as Rakesh Kumar of Gill Colony and Dalwinder Singh of Dhandari Kalan. Shiv Kumar, Assistant Superintendent Jail, said on May 18, during a surprise checking at reception ward, mobile phones were recovered from jail inmates. Sources said officials had initiated a probe to find out if jail staff had connived with inmates. A case under Section 52 A, Prison Act, has been registered against the accused. TNS

Harassment FOR DOWRY: 1 booked

Ludhiana: The women cell of the police have booked a man on the charge of dowry harassment. The suspect has been identified as Taranjit Singh, a resident of New Janta Nagar. Complainant Navneet Kaur of Joshi Nagar, Haibowal Kalan, told the police that she got married to the suspect in 2017. Immediately after marriage, she was subjected to mental and physical torture for want of more dowry. Due to daily harassment, she filed a complaint with the police. Investigation officer, ASI Meet Ram, said a case under Sections 406 and 498A, IPC, was registered against the suspect and probe was on. TNS

One booked for kidnapping girl

Ludhiana: The Division No. 8 police have booked a youth on the charge of kidnapping a minor girl. The suspect has been identified as Rahul of Namdev Colony. Complainant Meena Kumari of Haibowal Kalan told the police that on May 23, she had sent her daughter to hand over house rent to the landlord, but she did not return home. She suspected that her daughter was kidnapped by Rahul on the pretext of marrying her. The police have launched a probe. TNS
