The BJP has won the first innings of Lok Sabha elections and the second innings of Delhi Assembly elections, which would be held in February, will also be won with a big margin, said Manoj Tiwari during a joint press conference of newly elected BJP MPs of Delhi.

Tiwari is Delhi BJP president and MP from North-East Delhi, who defeated Sheila Dikshit of the Congress. He said during the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured maximum votes in 65 Assembly segments out of 70, which suggests that in 2020 Assembly elections, the saffron party would defeat the Aam Aadmi Party. Later, the Delhi BJP chief paid a courtesy visit to Sheila Dikshit at her residence.

Dr Harsh Vardhan, MP from Chandni Chowk, said organised and unorganised sector both supported the BJP. AAP announced its candidate six months before the elections were declared and they started campaigning. But they were receded to second or third position. Every BJP candidate won the election securing between 50 and 60 per cent of the total votes of the constituency, he said. He said this happened because the election strategy was chalked out by PM Modi, party national president Amit Shah and party workers’ hard work. In Delhi Assembly elections, the electorates will again vote in favour of the BJP. The result of the Lok Sabha elections is the beginning of the end of AAP government, he said.

There would be radical change in Delhi politics after the elections. The Centre had sanctioned the projects of transport and other ministries worth Rs 46,000 crore in Delhi though the BJP was not in power in state. “Again, we will carry out development work in Delhi without considering that AAP is ruling Delhi,” he said.

West Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma said: “Delhi decided the mood of India. This is mini India. In the Lok Sabha elections, the electorate in Delhi has given all seven seats to the BJP. In Assembly elections again, they will vote the BJP to power.”

East Delhi MP, cricketer-turned politician, Gautam Gambhir thanked the citizens of East Delhi and said AAP levelled mean allegations against him. He said: “Election comes, election goes. If character goes, it never comes back.”
