863 people get notices after dengue larvae found at houses

AMBALA: The Health Department served notices on more than 863 people in Ambala and Kurukshetra districts in the past two months after dengue larvae were found in their houses during inspection.

The Health Department served notices on more than 863 people in Ambala and Kurukshetra districts in the past two months after dengue larvae were found in their houses during inspection.

To stop larvae breeding, teams of the department in Ambala and Kurukshetra have been inspecting different areas in the two districts. In all, 700 people were served notices in Ambala and 163 in Kurukshetra.

Those who have been served notices have been directed to clear water within 48 hours of issuing of the notice. If the no action was taken and larvae were found on the seventh day of the first notice, a challan from Rs300 to Rs2,000 would be issued, the department said in the notice.

Health officials said people were being advised against storing water at homes for more than three days. They are being asked to spill oil on accumulated water or spray anti-larvae medicines.

In Ambala, two cases of dengue have been reported this year, while no case has surfaced in Kurukshetra. The two patients in Ambala were treated and discharged.

Dr Sudesh Sahota, nodal officer for dengue in Kurukshetra, said “Necessary steps are being taken to check the breeding of mosquitoes. The department is creating awareness among people so that they don’t allow water to stagnate in their surroundings. People are being asked to observe a dry day every week.”
