Chandigarh, March 2
Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal, who is also the Chairman of the State Committee formed to oversee the deployment of the Central Armed Police Forces during the elections, said conducting impartial and transparent elections was the motto of the Election Commission. Accordingly, along with the state’s security agencies, companies of the Central Armed Police Forces and ITBP were also being deployed. The main objective was to enable people to exercise their voting rights without any pressure.
Agarwal was chairing the meeting in this regard here today. He said that the ECI launched logo and tagline ‘Chunav ka Parv, Desh Ka Garv’ for a voter’s awareness campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. He said celebrating this festival with joy, peace, and brotherhood was the responsibility of the Chief Electoral Officers of the states.
At the meeting it was discussed that during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, 10 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force and five companies of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) would be deployed in all 10 Lok Sabha constituencies.
In addition, one company of the ITBP would be deployed each at Sonepat, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Gurugram, and Faridabad Lok Sabha constituencies.
At the meeting, IG Hardeep Doon of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Training Centre, Bhanu, Panchkula, Additional Inspector-General of Police, Security, CID, Saurabh Singh of the Haryana Police, the DIG of the Border Security Force, Punjab, Dr Atul Falzele, and Additional Chief Electoral Officer Hema Sharma, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Apurv, besides other senior officers, were also present on the occasion.
