Gurugram, February 21
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone of a renovation project of the Gurugram railway station at an estimated cost of Rs 295 crore.
While virtually inaugurating AIIMS-Rewari, PM Modi had also laid the stone for the metro expansion project in the city last week and he is expected to visit and inaugurate the long-pending Dwarka Expressway.
An upgraded modern railway station has been a demand in the city for over a decade. Gurugram MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjeet Singh today said the upgradation of the railway station will be started by PM along with many other projects.
The Union Minister said it would be upgraded in two phases. Around Rs 295 crore would be spent in the first phase and approximately the same amount would be spent in the second phase.
The revamped station would have two entry points, which would be accessible from Rajendera Park as well. A special plan is being prepared to connect vehicles passing through Daulatabad flyover to the station. Cement yard and the Maruti’s vehicle yard would be removed.
Rao said under the upgradation plan, 12 lifts, accelerators, a two-storey food court, foot overbridge, multilevel parking, solar panels, etc. would be installed.
The work on Pataudi Road and the Rewari railway station, which were selected by Eastern Railway under the Amrit Bharat Mission, has already been started.
“Gurugram, the face of Haryana, is a millennium city and thus, it deserves a railway station to match its stature. In addition, the long-pending demand regarding the removal of cement yard is being addressed. People were suffering from breathing issues and poor air quality. Be it AIIMS, metro, Dwarka Expressway or railway station, we will go seek votes after fulfilling all our promises,” said Rao Inderjeet Singh.
