Ambala, July 8
The CIA-1 unit of Ambala has arrested a Punjab resident in connection with the carjacking incident in which a father-son duo of Ambala had suffered bullet injuries on July 3.
The accused has been identified as Nazargir (42) of Rajpura. He was produced before a court which sent him to three-day police remand. The police have recovered the car.
The victims were identified as Gulshan Kumar and his son Paras, residents of Ambala City.
Superintendent of Police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said, “During the questioning, the accused disclosed that on June 3 he had stolen an Activa from Dera Bassi and on June 12, he had robbed a two-wheeler at gunpoint from a girl on the Airport Road, Mohali. He was planning to commit some big crime.”
“On July 3, he attacked a father-son duo, opened fire at them and fled with their I-20 car from Manakpur Road, and then hid the car at his house. On July 7, during raids, the CIA-1 unit led by Sandeep Kumar nabbed the accused from Samana, Patiala Road, with the car,” he added.
“Using human intelligence and technical support, the CIA-1 unit arrested the accused. The revolver he used in the crime was a company-made weapon. During the remand, we will try to know about the source and other information about the weapon. He used to work as a photographer in the village. His father and wife are dead. He was living with his mother. Due to debt and financial issues, he started robbing people,” the SP said.
