The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has urged Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to take action against the police officials who were involved in themassacre at Hond Chillar village of Rewari district in November 1984. Atleast 32 Sikhs were killed in the violence.

The local police neither intervened in the massacre, nor followed up an FIR filed by survivors nor helped in the resettlement of the survivors.

Seeking the prosecution of four policemen — the then SP of Rewari Satender Kumar, the then Jatusana DSP Ram Bhaj, SHO Ram Kishore and head constable Ram Kumar — SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal wrote that even after the lapse of 34 years, the state government has not initiated any action against these officials.

Longowal demanded that these policeofficers should face stern action so that the victims got some justice.

He said that the Justice TP Garg Commission has already upheld the culpability of these policemen.

“Instead of punishment, these policemen got promotions. During the tenure of erstwhile Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, Satender Kumar got promotion as DGP (Home Guard), Ram Bhaj and Ram Kishore were promoted as SP and Ram Kumar as DSP. It is known that the miscreants used a Haryana Roadways bus to commit the massacre, which points to the involvement of the state government.”
