Karnal, September 10
A 19-year-old reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Araipura village in Karnal district on Monday.
She was depressed over regular eve-teasing by two youths of the village on her way to college and inaction by their parents. The victim was a BA-I student at a college in the village. The police registered a case against two youths. No arrest had been made so far.
“We have lodged an FIR against Mohit and Abhishek under Section 306 of the IPC. Efforts are being made to nab the accused,” said Sachin Kumar, Gharaunda SHO.
The youths reportedly used to tease her regularly. Her parents had objected to this, but no action had beeninitiated by their parents, said the police.
