The Mandi administration has been recovering the disbursed PM Kisan Samman Nidhi amount back from farmers who were found ineligible for it. As many as 5,980 farmers registered for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme were found ineligible. Of these 2,081 were taxpayers.
Official sources said so far, the district administration had recovered around Rs 1.7 crore amount from ineligible farmers, while Rs 1.76 crore is still pending.

Talking to The Tribune, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Mandi, Ashwani Kumar said that during investigation, it was found that 5,980 farmers registered for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme were not fulfilling the criteria to get the amount. There are certain parameters to cover farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.
“After identifying the ineligible farmers in the district, now the process of recovery is underway to collect the disbursed amount of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi from them. Of the total 5,980 ineligible farmers, 2,081 farmers were taxpayers,” he said.
In reply to a query, the ADM stated that a close vigil was being maintained on the registration process of farmers for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi at the panchayat level to district level to check the inclusion of ineligible farmers under the scheme.
Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, the government provides a sum of Rs 6,000 in a year to the registered farmers in three installments of Rs 2,000 each.
According to the ADM, there are 1,63,071 eligible farmers registered under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Mandi district.
