The surge in Covid cases continued with 139 cases and four deaths being reported today, taking the number of positive cases in the state to 6,255 and fatality to 40.
For the first time, the state witnessed four deaths, two in Solan and one each in Una and Shimla. A 42-year person died at the IGMC.

The highest 35 cases were reported in Bilaspur, 34 in Sirmaur, 25 in Kangra, 17 in Una, 14 in Shimla, eight in Hamirpur, five in Solan and one in Chamba.
Baddi man dies
A 37-year old man, who tested Covid-positive at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Nalagarh, died today.
Health officials said the said youth was a resident of phase II area of Baddi. He was admitted to the isolation ward of CHC Nalagarh this morning. He was having cough and facing difficulty in breathing. His test report for Covid was received around 3:30 pm. He collapsed while the staff was preparing to shift him to MMU medical college at Kumarhatti.
This is the 12th Covid death from the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh (BBN) area. His body was cremated observing all safety protocols. Meanwhile, five cases were detected in the district. Medical officer Dr NK Gupta, said four cases are from the BBN belt.
Drug controller tests +ve
The Baddi-based office of the Drug Control Administration (DCA) was sealed after its deputy drug controller tested positive last evening. He had not visited the office since August 25.
As many as 22 employees of the DCA, including state drug controller, two assistant drug controller and six inspectors, will be tested for the infection.
The office was sanitised and closed for 48 hours today as a precautionary measure, said SDC Navneet Marwaha.Employees of several pharmaceutical units in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial area have tested positive in the last two months.
34 cases in Sirmaur
Thirtyfour persons, including 21 from Paonta Sahib, tested positive in Sirmaur district today. Thirteen from Katcha Tank, Mallowala, Housing board colony, Bada Chowk and others areas of Nahan were among those who tested positive, said DC, Sirmaur, Dr RK Pruthi. In Paonta Sahib, 12 industrial workers were found infected.
