The Una district administration today handed over an additional 10 kanals of land for the PGI Chandigarh satellite centre at Malahat village in Una district, which will be used for constructing an approach road to the proposed hospital.
Revenue record of the land, measuring about 171 m long and 24 m wide, was formally handed over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Arindham Chaudhary to Dr Arun Alok Chakravarty, head of the team from the PGI, Chandigarh. The team inspected the site and took possession of the land.
The ADC said the PGI authorities have already been handed over the possession of 402 kanal of land in Malahat village near Una city for construction of the satellite hospital here.
He said the authorities had demanded a direct road approach from the Una-Chandigarh highway. It is learned that the administration had approached some private land owners, who obliged for the sake of development.
The satellite hospital of the PGI was announced by Union Health Minister JP Nadda during his Una visit more than two years ago.
