Kangra, October 13
A hundred girl students of Govt Degree College, Ladbharol, visited the Kangra Fort and Bajjreshwari Temple here today to bring them close to historical, cultural and spiritual roots of India.
Sanjeev Kumar, officiating principal of the college, who was accompanying the students along with 12 of faculty members, said the young generation needed to be brought close to national ethos and spiritual strength of great sages.
Ashok Kumar of Vivekananda Kendra briefed them about the historical background of the fort, one of the largest and oldest in Northern India.
They were also briefed about the achievements of great kings and invasion on the fort by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1009 AD.
Students were told about the famous Shaktipeeth of Bajjreshwari and were briefed about the great history of Goddess Sati. They were asked to follow teachings of Swami Vivekananda as his teachings. — OC
