Dharamsala, February 24
The sixth edition of the Dharamsala Residents International Festival for Theatre (DRIFT) is being organised at McLeodganj, a tourist hub of Kangra district.
The organisers held the first edition of DRIFT in 2017 with an aim to include the community in the festival where local artists, students and groups can showcase their talent.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival was not organised. Artists participate with a lot of enthusiasm in the event.
Niranjani Iyer, the founder and artistic director of DRIFT, said, “Over the years, we have hosted a range of local and national artists. The festivals have also featured international artists such as Toztli Abril de Dios from Mexico and members of Dollkki Puppet Company from Korea. This year, the festival received a good response during the first two days. Besides, DRIFT witnessed good footfall despite the chilly weather. We are thrilled to welcome more people over the weekend.”
Actors, directors and professionals from all over the country stay together during the event. Participants say their interaction during the festival is meaningful.
