Ludhiana, December 10

After the launch of the Know Your Case scheme by the Ludhiana police, the Commissioner of Police, Rakesh Agrawal, has come to know about a large number of complaints lying pending at police stations, some for over a year.

To dispose of a huge number of pending complaints and to ensure timely action, Agrawal has issued directions to all city SHOs to check the pending complaints.

While talking to The Tribune today, the CP said negligence on the part of investigating officers (IOs) at the city police stations would not be tolerated, and if they deliberately delayed investigation into the complaints marked to them, then they would face the music.

“I have told the SHOs to check the total number of complaints lying at the police stations as also the duration for which these have been pending. The SHOs will prepare a list of these complaints along with the names of the investigating officers concerned. If any complaint is found to be lying with any officer for the past over three months and the officer concerned fails to give any genuine logic about sitting over the complaint, he or she has to face action,” said the CP.

It has been observed that most routine complaints marked to investigating officers-cum-ASIs are not being disposed of in time due to which people have to do the rounds of police stations. In some of the complaints, investigating officers have not called the complainants for recording their statements.
