ASI suspended after kin hold protest

After the parents of 13-year-old Rachna, who was crushed to death by a school bus on Saturday, protested with her body in front of the Adampur police station, ASI Jang Bahadur was suspended on Monday.

The parents on Sunday had alleged that the ASI, who was also the inquiry officer in the case, tried to tamper with the registration number of the bus to save the school authorities. The victim was coming from her school when her bicycle was hit by the speeding bus of a private school resulting in her death.

The parents alleged that the ASI, after the incident, tampered with the registration number of the bus which was involved in the accident. Later, the parents refused to cremate the body of the victim and had demanded action against the ASI. — TNS
