Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a Moga resident on the charge of attacking a police official. Investigating officer (IO) Balvir Chand said the suspect had been identified as Gursewak Singh, a resident of Data village falling under the Mehanna police station, Moga. The IO said assistant sub-inspector Surjit Singh, in his statement to the police, stated that he was performing his duty at a hi-tech naka at Kanwan Wala Patann on January 10.

The suspect driving his car negligently came from the Dharam Kot side and hit him and obstructed him from performing his duty. A case under Sections 307, 353, 186 and 279 of the IPC was registered against the suspect. OC

PO lands in police net

Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who was absconding for the past few months. Station House Officer (SHO) Lakhvir Singh said the accused had been identified as Mohinder Pal, alias Jassi, a resident of Sango Wal village falling under the Bilga police station. The SHO said he was wanted in a case of drug peddling registered in 2020 and was declared a PO in 2023. As many as 160 intoxicant capsules were recovered from his possession.
