Nakodar: The Nakodar City police have arrested a mother-son duo on the charges of cheating, extortion and committing a crime with common intention. SHO Dharminder Kalyann said the suspects had been identified as Santosh, a resident of Malrri village, and her son Jatinder Kumar, alias Mohit. The SHO said a case under Sections 384 (extortion), 420 (cheating) and 34 (committing crime with common intention) of the IPC was registered against the suspects. The main suspect in case, Pankaj, was arrested earlier, the police said. OC
Drug peddler arrested
Shahkot: The Shahkot police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling intoxicant tablets. The suspect has been identified as Saurav, a resident of Mohalla Bagh Wala, Shahkot. Investigating officer (IO) Kewal Singh said 150 intoxicating tablets were recovered from his possession. A case under Sections 22(b), 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered. OC
PO lands in police net
Lohian: The Lohian Khas police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who was absconding for the past few months. Station House Officer Bakhshish Singh said the accused had been identified as Ravinder Singh, alias Binda, a resident of Jalal Pur Kalan village. He was wanted in a case of drug peddling registered in 2020 and was declared a PO in 2023. OC

Nakodar: The police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of illegal mining. Rohit Kumar, junior engineer-cum-mining inspector, Nakodar, Shahkot, told the police that the suspects were extracting more earth at Dhaliwal village than permitted by MKC company. A case under Section 379 of the IPC and Section 21(2) of Mines and Minerals Act has been registered and four poclain machines, two tippers and three tractors have been impounded. OC
Man robbed of bike, mobile
Phagwara: Five unidentified persons snatched a motorcycle, purse and a mobile phone from a Naraingarh (Ambala) resident, Munish Kumar, near Mehatan village on the national highway on Friday night. The suspects also thrashed him before fleeing the spot. In his complaint to the police, the victim said while he was returning to his village on his motorcycle, five robbers on three motorcycles stopped him. They thrashed him before fleeing with his motorcycle, a purse and a mobile phone. The police have registered a case.
