Cops raid Nakodar house, nab 11 consuming heroin

Acting on a tip-off, the police carried out a raid at Mallian Khurd village in Nakodar and nabbed 11 persons allegedly consuming heroin and seized the drug and other related material used for its consumption.

Uggi police station incharge Sukhvinderpal Singh said they received a tip-off that one Balwinder Singh, a resident of the village, was selling heroin to some people at his house. The people who were present at Balwinder’s house during the raid have been identified as Ranjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Baljit Singh, Manpreet Singh, Sandeep, Balwinder Singh, and Sajan Kumar, all residents of Uggi; Lovedeep Singh and Sarbjit Singh, both residents of Chuhar; and Amarjit Singh of Talwandi Salem.

The police claimed all the aforesaid men were caught consuming heroin at the spot during the raid. Police added that 3 gm of heroin along with the paraphrenilia required for consumption of thye drug was recovered from the spot. 10 polythene or papers soiled with heroin, 10 pipes and 10 match boxes were recovered by the police from the spot.

A case under Sections 21 (A), 27, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was lodged at the Nakodar police station. A detailed investigation was in progress, the police said.
