Jalandhar, November 15
The Court of Parminder Singh Grewal, Additional Sessions Judge, Jalandhar, today ordered registration of an FIR against Dr Amandeep Gill (BAMS), for allegedly colluding with an accused in a criminal case and helping him prepare a fake medical certificate to mislead court for getting anticipatory bail.
The order came during the hearing of the bail application of Harpreet Singh of Jandiala village, who had been booked in a case on July 7, 2016.
“The Reader of this court is directed to act as a complainant in the present case for record and for any other purpose associated with the investigation,” the court pronounced.
During a hearing on bail application on September 11, the court had directed the Sadar SHO to verify the genuineness of the medical certificate with a direction to him to submit his report in this regard.
SI Major Singh, in-charge, Jandiala police post, conducted a probe on whether the accused had remained admitted for treatment from August 13, 2018, to August 16, 2018, to Robin Hospital.
Owner of the hospital Kiran Bala gave a statement that she had leased out her hospital since August 1 to Dr Rashpal Singh and prior to this, on rent to Dr Ranjit and Dr Amandeep Gill up to July 31, 2018. The probe showed that no person in the name of Harpreet had remained admitted to the hospital on the dates mentioned in the medical certificate.
It came on record that the accused got prepared the certificate from the doctor on the letter pad of the hospital after affixing his seal.
“The accused failed to explain as to how the letter pad of the hospital came to his possession or whether it was stolen by him from the hospital for forging the same,” the court order reads.
It was further ordered: “The Reader is directed to forward the copy of the report dated September 12, 2018, submitted by the Sadar police station SHO, the copy of statement dated September 12, 2018, of Kiran Bala, copy of the lease agreement and copy of the OPD register of Robin Hospital showing admission record from August 9 to August 21, 2018, to the New Baradari police station SHO for strict compliance.”
The court has also sought report of compliance from the police station on November 22.
Notably, Harpreet is one of the five persons booked under Section 399 (making preparation to commit a dacoity) and Section 402 (assembling for purpose of committing a dacoity) of the IPC and the Arms Act lodged by the now dismissed CIA, Inspector Inderjit Singh, at the Sadar police station.
The order
The order of the Court of Parminder Singh Grewal, Additional Sessions Judge, Jalandhar, read: “The accused through his counsel has submitted a forged medical certificate, dated August 29, 2018, before the court after allegedly stealing the same from Robin Hospital, Jandiala. Hence, Harpreet and Dr Gill have prima facie committed offences under Sections 379, 465, 466 and 471 of the IPC read with 34 of the IPC”. It directed the SHO, New Baradari police station, to register an FIR against the doctor as well as the accused and probe the matter.
