Some Good Samaritans have come to the rescue of many stranded passengers at the city railway station, bus stand, night shelters and those living in slums.

Members of the Baba Jeevan Singh Sewa Society, who had been touring the city on a van filled with food and ration, were helping those stuck on roads, night shelters and other places by giving them food and ration.

Over 100 people, including rickshaw pullers and those living in slums, who were helped by them, praised them for their support.

Speaking to The Tribune, one of the members of the society said: “The country is passing through a tough phase and we have to be available for each other. As the curfew has been imposed to limit the spread of the virus, there were people who were not aware of the situation and are now stranded at various places,” he said, adding that they were only putting a small effort to serve society.

“We just want to ensure that those living in slums and daily wage workers, who did not have enough food items, should not sleep empty stomach. At present, maintaining the spirit of brotherhood should be a priority for all,” he said.

They also urged residents to stay inside and cooperate with the district administration.
