Tableaux depicting the glorious history of Punjab reached Jalandhar district today. Phillaur SDM Amanpal Singh and Nakodar SDM Gursimran Singh Dhillon welcomed these tableaux upon their arrival here on behalf of the district administration.
On Monday, these tableaux will reach Nakodar Chowk via Nakodar, Lambra and then leave for Amritsar district.
These tableaux include a portrayal of Jallianwala Bagh incident, Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Shaheed Udham Singh, Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna, Lala Lajpat Rai, Shaheed Sukhdev, Lala Hardiyal, Sardar Ajit Singh, Baba Kharak Singh, Madan Lal Dhingra and Dr Diwan Singh Kalepani, besides other great personalities.
Similarly, a life-size statue of Mai Bhago - great Sikh woman warrior - was displayed to emphasise women empowerment. Likewise, Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls has displayed portraits of successful girls who have earned fame in various fields. Similarly, a glimpse of the rich heritage and civilisation of Punjab has been presented through the third tableau.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had announced to display these tableaux in various parts of Punjab. On Sunday, these tableaux reached Phillaur, then marched for Nakodar via Goraya and Jandiala, where people gave them a grand welcome.
On Monday, these tableaux will enter the city via Nakodar Road, from where these will start their journey towards Amritsar district.
DSP, SMO honoured
Phagwara: Deputy Superintendent of Police (Intelligence) Raj Kumar Sondhi, Senior Medical Officer Dr Lehmber Ram and Civil Hospital nurse Renuka and Monika were among those to be honoured owing to their selfless service at the 75th Republic Day function held at Government Senior Secondary School, Phagwara, on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, along with SDM Jashanjit Singh and SP Gurpreet Singh, unfurled the national flag.
Phagwara division magistrates Surekha Dadwal, Vijay Singh Dadwal, MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, former minister Joginder Singh Maan, Improvement Trust chairman Advocate Kashmir Singh Malhi, District Planning Board chairperson Lalit Saklani, Market Committee chairman Tawinder Ram, Tehsildar Baljinder Singh, Naib Tehsildar Mandip Singh, Santosh Kumar Gogi and Principal Ranjit Gogna were also present. An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of various educational institutions.
