Jammu Sanskriti School organised an in-house picnic for the students of the pre-primary and primary wings. Various entertainment activities were organised. The day ended with an adventurous camp. Principal-cum-vice-chairperson Rohini Aima applauded the efforts put in by the teachers for making the adventurous camp a great success.

Cultural food festival

A cultural food festival on the theme 'Plunging into the royal Indian palate' was organised by the department of home science in the auditorium of Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School. After the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, an impressive cultural bonanza was presented by the students, in which glimpses of Mughal, Dogra, Rajput and Vijay Nagar Empire was showcased. A skit highlighting the significance of diverse food culture existing in India was also presented by students. 

Annual sports day

Annual sports day was organised at Army Public School (APS), Rakhmuthi. The programme commenced with torch-lighting by the dignitaries, followed by a march-past by the NCC cadets and the students of the four houses. The students took the pledge to hold the school motto of ‘Loyalty, Truth and Honour’ in high esteem. Principal Shaswati Ghosh presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of the school. Apart from sports competitions, other main attractions were aerobics and yoga. Later, the winners of various athletic activities were felicitated. Nehru House bagged the overall trophy.

Fit India Week observed

Students of Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana, participated in Fit India Week from November 20 to 30. Many physical activities were performed during the week, which included skipping, wushu, exercise, yoga, dance and aerobics. Students displayed their artistic skills in poster-making and slogan-writing on the theme "Say no to drugs and smoking". Sandeep Kour conducted a lively symposium on junk food vs nutritious food.

Prize distribution function

The fourth annual day-cum-prize distribution function of RM Public School was organised at Teachers Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar. Brig Rajan Jamwal was the chief guest while the presiding guest was Col SS Pathania. Rameshwar Mengi, chairman, and Rita Mengi, school trustee, also graced the occasion.

Scholarship carnival

A seven-day scholarship carnival was launched on Sunday by Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust for 500 students from rural areas. More than 80 per cent of students are girls from the economically weaker families. Besides scholarships, children will also get free medical and eye check-up. Chief guest Neelam Saini, a police officer; Dr SP Sharma, an ophthalmologist; Dr Ashok Chanyal, a physician; and Trust supporters distributed scholarships and impressed upon the children that they were getting an opportunity to achieve excellence in education. 

Teachers meet Union Minister

Members of the College Teaching Association (CTA), Jammu Wing, led by president Rakesh Jasrotia and Lokinder Singh, met Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh at his office in Jammu. The CTA election for the Jammu province was held recently. Jitendra assured the CTA regarding the redressal of the issues of the college teaching fraternity.

Toilets built in 2 schools

The Army constructed toilets for girl students of Government Schools in Dhok Kangri and Bajabain villages under Beripattan subdivision. Being in border villages, the schools had limited hygienic toilet facilities. Thus the locals had requested the Army for provisioning separate toilets for girls in these schools.
