Tell us about the challenge #SingWithAsees that you have started on Roposo.

This collaboration has helped me explore and connect with more people who are musically inclined. So, I am excited to initiate a Roposo trend #SingWithAsees to commemorate World Music Day and connect with new voices. It will run from June 21 to 27 and will allow budding singers to showcase their talent.

Why is World Music Day important to you?

Music has been an integral part of my life, and I have been celebrating it every day. But World Music Day is different because everyone across the globe comes together to celebrate music. It unites everyone.

What motivated you to become a singer?

I was five when I started singing. It was my father who wanted me to sing Gurbani and be a part of religious aspects of Gurdwaras. Eventually, I fell in love with Bollywood music. I had a dream to see every actress dance to my songs, and that’s what attracted me to Bollywood.

Who are your biggest influences?

Arijit Singh and Noor Jehan ji influenced me. I look up to their singing style.

Are there things you want to do other than singing?

Since we were all locked up in our homes, I have developed a new love for fitness and started working out every day. This has helped me become physically and mentally fit.

When did you first realise that you wanted to work in the entertainment industry?

When I saw Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, I was 12 years old. It is still a dream to see Madhuri Dixit dance to my songs because it all started with her dancing in the film.

How difficult it is to establish yourself in the music industry?

I don’t believe it is very difficult. It is imperative for one to be disciplined and do one’s riyaaz regularly. The industry is very welcoming to new talents and new voices, making it a win-win situation for everyone. One needs to be patient and keep working toward one’s goal.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

With audiences opening up to non-commercial songs, I believe there will be a lot of positive changes. As an artiste, I will be acting in my music video.
