What is Tera Chhalaava all about?

Tera Chhalaava is an anthology of five short stories. It’s all about deception, drama, suspense and thrill of the many lies in relationships and marriages.

Tell us about your role in the show.

I play Gauri, who’s a graceful and calm woman, someone completely different to what I am in real life—from the body language to the styling to the hair.

This is your debut on OTT. What’s your take on this medium?

The future of OTT is great and bright. People are loving such content. I’m addicted to it. It’s got so much variety and it’s in the real zone. Of course, I have enjoyed my long nine years in the TV industry but times have changed and it’s the digital age now.

How important is developing a personal style in acting?

We enjoy performances where actors give a personal touch to each character they play. Recently, my husband and I were watching a film starring Ayushmann Khurrana. He tries to bring out something different about himself with every role, which is amazing. That’s what sets him apart and a reason why he’s so loved.

TV, films and web — which medium do you enjoy more and why?

I’ve done TV and four Punjabi films. But I’ve enjoyed the web more. It’s more real here and there’s more variety. This is a space where I play a character, do a start-to-finish thing, go home and do other things.

What do you consider as your greatest achievement till date?

My family that I’ve created is my biggest achievement. I say this because I never got to live with my parents as I was put in a hostel when I was young.

Who’ve been your influences within the industry?

My friend Sakshi Tanwar has been my biggest inspiration. She’s intelligent and is just perfect with the way she works and carries herself.

What are you proud of in your professional experience?

I’m very proud of the fact that no one can look the way I look in a uniform.

A role that you would say no to?

Any role that wants me to wear tons of jewellery is something I’d refuse. Also, I don’t believe in saas-bahu roles.
