Under the campaign initiated by Punjab Agriculture Minister Randeep Nabha against the hoarding and black marketing of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser, the Agriculture Department of Ludhiana recovered 40 bags of hoarded DAP from a Sewa Centre at Koom Kalan today.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Ludhiana, Dr Narinder Singh Benipal along with Agriculture Officer Dr Jaswinder Singh and ADO Dhanraj Singh raided a Sewa Centre at Koom Kalan falling in Mangat block and recovered 40 bags of hoarded DAP from the centre. The CAO said the licence of the centre has been sent for cancellation.

“The government is trying its level best to meet the shortage of DAP as far as possible. At this stage it is very important to use it sensibly and at the same time honestly without creating artificial shortage of the material,” the CAO said.

He warned the retailers and cooperative societies that strict action will be initiated against those indulging in hoarding and black marketing of the fertiliser. Licence of retailers and cooperative societies will be cancelled if found indulging in malpractices,” he said.
