Ninetythree persons (highest so far in a day this month) tested positive for Covid, while two lost their life to the virus in the district today.

On November 1, 68 cases were reported, followed by 55 on November 2. On November 3, the cases reported were 60, while on November 4, the district witnessed 46 cases.

On November 5, the cases reported in the district were 65 and 72 cases were reported the following day. On November 7, there were 74 positive cases and on November 8, the persons who tested positive were 67.

The two persons who lost their lives today were a 46-year-old man from Jagraon, who had been admitted to the Civil Hospital, and a 40-year-old woman from the Focal Point who had been admitted to SPS Hospital.

Today, 12 patients were on ventilator support, out of whom seven belonged to Ludhiana and five to other districts. Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said till now, 19,441 persons had recovered and the district had 598 active cases. Today, 59 persons were sent for home quarantine and there were 1,114 active home quarantined cases in the district at present.

“It is festival season, but we urge people not to step out of their houses until it is urgently required as there is already a great rush in city markets. People should prefer celebrating festivals at their own homes and avoid unnecessary visits to places,” he said.
