Ludhiana: Garden Valley International School, Machhiwara, celebrated its annual day centred around the theme ‘Sanskar’ highlighting the degraded moral values in the coming generation. More than 1,150 students presented a harmonious ensemble of the epic that sculpted morals, value system and rich legacy of Indian tradition. The highlight of the event was the ballet ‘Sanskar’ that manifested the importance of long-forgotten virtues, which used to be the essence of a man’s life in the days of yore. An exhibition displaying ‘Punjabi virsa’ and ‘social media’ was prepared by the students. TNS

World Pollution Free Day observed 

Ryan International School, Dugri, organised a workshop on World Pollution Free Day in the school premises. Dr Vishavjeet Singh Hans, Head of the Department of Renewable Energy, PAU Ludhiana, conducted the workshop for the students of Classes VI to X. He made the students aware of the harmful effects of stubble burning on humans as well as our environment. He also informed the students about the measures that the Indian government was taking to help the farmers in this context. PAU has very recently launched a Straw Management System (SMS) in which a machine chops and spreads the paddy straw on the field which is then put into the soil with the help of machine where it decomposes and acts as a manure. It was indeed a very enriching workshop for the students.

Session on career counselling

In order to fulfill the need of the students of career guidance, the school on Thursday organised a career counseling session for Class XII Commerce students where chairperson of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Shalini Gupta, along with Ashwani Gupta and Girish Aggarwal (CAs) gave students tips on preparation and cracking CA. It was a highly interactive session where the students put forth their queries, which were answered to their satisfaction. The speakers motivated the students and enthused them with energy and positivity. They also apprised the students of the varied option available after doing CA to help them plan well in advance.

Columbian delegates visit school

The Colombian delegation was all praise for the hospitality extended by Punjabis during their week-long heritage-tour of Punjab. The South Americans got mesmerized by the rich traditions and folklore of Punjab. The 12-member delegation was welcomed in the DPS Kids School on Pakhowal road in a traditional style when the school kids led by school principal Ramanpreet Kaur offered the delegates with flower petals.
