Ludhiana, October 23

A 13-year-old girl allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the DAV School, BRS Nagar, building on Wednesday noon. She suffered serious fractures and other injuries. Presently, she is undergoing treatment at DMC Hospital where her condition is stated to be serious. The injured girl is a daughter of city-based businessman.

The incident occurred at 12.10 pm. The girl came out of her class and stood in the corridor. She went close to the window and after looking around suddenly jumped from the fourth floor of the school building.

As per the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), West, Sameer Verma, the entire incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed onthe school premises. The CCTV cameras clearly showed how the girl came in the corridor and jumped, he added.

The moment girl jumped from the fourth floor panic spread on the entire school campus. Principal Jaswinder Sidhu immediately reached the spot, called an ambulance, and rushed the girl to the DMC Hospital. The principal then informed the police.

Several friends of the girl were questioned, but no one was aware of her plan to attempt suicide, the ACP said. Asked about any sort of mental or physical torture at school, which could force girl to take an extreme step, the ACP added that neither her parents had given any statement nor did such thing come to fore so far.

“Since the girl has suffered multiple fractures, she is on the ventilator. Once she regains consciousness, only then the cause of taking an extreme step can be confirmed,” the ACP said.

As per DMC Hospital doctors, the girl suffered multiple fractures, a clot in the brain and her condition was serious. Her exact state would be determined only after 72 hours, they added.
