Doraha, June 28
The Congress led by former Payal MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha held a ‘Satyagraha’ against the Centre’s Agnipath scheme under the overbridge of Doraha on Tuesday. The Congress leaders and workers raised their voice against the ‘unjust’ move of the Centre in the form of Agnipath scheme. The Congress workers demanded a rollback of the policy.
Lakha said the policy is faulty from the very core. “Far from resolving the problems of the youth, it will only help in adding fuel to the fire. The youth is running abroad. The youngsters have the highest degrees with them but no jobs. They are running from pillar to post for jobs which can provide them a safe future. Agnipath scheme shall only add to their worries. The youth employed under the scheme shall always be haunted by the thought of emptiness and frustration,” he added.
“Agnipath scheme is a crooked step of the government to promote privatisation at the end of the day. India is steadily heading towards another imperialistic surrender with the defective policies of the government. The policy is a sheer mockery of the promises made by the government to provide assured job opportunities to the youth of the country,” the protestors rued.
