Kalombo Mulenga, an international student of the Punjab College of Technical Engineering (PCTE) Group of Institutes, Baddowal, near here, won a bronze medal in the men’s singles category in the All African Badminton Championship held at Kampala in Uganda recently.

Kalombo from Zambia took part in the championship organised by the Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) in which players from different countries of the African continent competed.

Prior to this, Kalombo had won positions in national and international-level badminton tournaments in Zambia.

“Winning a medal in the All African Championship was not an easy task. It required a lot of focus and practice for which I worked hard. I was determined and prepared myself to perform well,” said an elated Kalombo.

Dr KNS Kang, director general, PCTE Group of Institutes, congratulated Kalombo on winning the medal in such a prestigious tournament and said it was a proud moment for the college to have students like him.

“The PCTE has always encouraged its students to learn and actively participate in sports-related activities to promote

physical fitness, increase sportsmanship and enhance their overall personality,” said Dr Kang.
