Man’s body found in Buddha Nullah


Ludhiana: An unidentified body of a man was found in Buddha Nullah near Upkar Nagar on Friday. The body was wrapped in a sack. Neeraj Chaudhary, SHO, Haibowal police station, said someone informed the police after noticing something suspicious in a floating sack in the nullah. When it was checked, the body was found. Police personnel then took out the body from the nullah. Initially, the police could not able to make out whether the body was of a man or a woman as it was mutilated. It seemed that it was dumped in the nullah after killing the deceased. The SHO said it seems that the deceased was around 45 years old. The body also had injury marks. The victim was wearing a green T-shirt and a jeans. The T-shirt was bearing a slogan, ‘say no to drugs’. The police said though it seems a murder, the exact cause of death would be known after receiving the medical opinion of doctors. TNS

30-yr-old woman commits suicide

Ludhiana: A 30-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in Indra Colony here. She reportedly committed suicide after her alleged arguments with her husband and in-laws on Thursday night. She has been identified as Rano. She took the extreme step on Thursday night and the incident came to fore on Friday morning when her husband saw her body hanging. As per the police, the woman got married in 2014 and the couple had two children. She had not been in good terms with her husband and in-laws due to which she was under depression. On Thursday night, she had arguments with her husband and in-laws. Later, she went to her room and committed suicide. No suicide note was recovered. The police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174, CrPc. TNS
