Migrant brought back from Bihar tests positive

Migrant labourers coming to state from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh (UP) for sowing paddy have sent alarm bells ringing. A labourer, who had come to Ratipur village, near Machhiwara, from Bihar along with 34 others in a bus for sowing paddy, had tested positive for the Covid-19 recently.

As per the information, a farmer of Ratipur village had arranged a bus for ferrying labourers from Bihar to Punjab on June 7. The farmer took all labourers to the Civil Hospital for Covid test.

Machhiwara SMO Jaspreet Kaur, said all labourers coming to the area should be brought for Covid test.

Samrala SDM Gitika Singh, said, “I have directed officers to collect information about labourers arriving in the area and check them. Action will be taken against farmers, who do not inform about migrants to the administration.” — OC
