Civil Surgeon Dr Kiran Ahluwalia said the National Deworming Day was observed today to rid children of stomach worms and make them healthy. Dr Ahluwalia started the campaign from Government Model Senior Secondary School, Cemetery Road.
“All children in the age group of 1-19 years will be given albendazole tablets.
The children between the ages of 2 and 19 will be given full tablet and children between the ages of 1 to 2 years will be given half tablet of albendazole”, she said.
District Immunization Officer-cum-Nodal Officer Dr Raj Kumar said this pill should not be given to children on an empty stomach. He said the children, who for some reason had failed to take this pill, would be given this pill on September 1.
