Ludhiana, September 2

Despite two major loot cases were reported in Ludhiana yesterday, the Ludhiana Commissionerate police probe into the cases is still groping in the dark.

Recently, two Joint Commissioners, who are directly supervising the four police zones, were deployed in the city. Two ADCP rank officers each work under the Joint CPs.

These two major robberies in a day have challenged the functioning of the city police.

Notably, yesterday three armed robbers looted Rs4 lakh from the office of Western Union situated on Delhi Road near Samrala Chowk. Shakti, owner of the office, was injured with sharp weapons and was hospitalised. On Tuesday morning as well, Rs2.8 lakh was looted from a 75-year-old man outside the bank on Gill Road.

ADCP Jaskiranjit Teja said in the Rs2.8 lakh robbery, the police probe was going into the right direction and robbers would soon be nabbed.

Simranjit Kaur, SHO, Moti Nagar, said in the Rs4 lakh loot case, robbers are yet to be arrested and a probe is on.

No recovery in Ghumar Mandi gold heist

Over four months have passed since the robbery in Ghumar Mandi where four robbers had looted gold worth Rs90 lakh from a jewellery shop, but the police was yet to nab the kingpin of the robbery. So far, the police have only arrested two accused in the case, Bhushan Kumar and Vishnu Soni, alias, Sam of Ganesh Nagar and recovered one .315 bore pistol along with four live cartridges from Vishnu. Vinay Jain, owner of VK Jewellers, said since the Ludhiana police have not able to make any gold recovery, he has decided to meet the DGP, and the CM.
