Court of Judicial Magistrate Shivani Garg has convicted Surinder Singh of Dehlon on the charge of attempting to kidnap an eight-year-old girl.
He was ordered to undergo imprisonment for two and a half years. A fine of Rs 7,000 was also imposed upon him.
A case against him was registered at the Sahnewal police station on May 9, 2015, on a statement of Chhote Lal, father of the girl who resides in ward no. 42 of Sahnewal.
The complainant had told the police that her daughter had gone to the Bhatia Karyana shop for purchasing eatables. While she was returning home, the accused came on a motorcycle and insisted his daughter should sit on his bike. She started crying and ran away towards home.
When she narrated the incident at home, he came out. A woman living in the neighbourhood told him that the accused tried to kidnap his daughter. When she raised a hue and cry, he fled the scene. Chhote Lal started searching for the suspect. He was found standing in the nearby street. He was nabbed and the matter was reported to the police.
