Following the interrogation of drug peddler Ranjit Singh, alias Sonu, a cabbie, the Amritsar rural police have confiscated 4-kg heroin from his vehicle.
A senior police official said the contraband was concealed in the cavities of the widows of the same vehicle from where the police had seized 16.87-kg heroin earlier.
The police arrested notorious drug peddler Sukhdev Singh, alias Kalu Jathaul, in the case. Kalu had several cases of drug peddling against him, police sources said. With his arrest, the police have nabbed around seven persons in the case till now.
The police had earlier arrested Ranjit Singh Rana, Malkeet Singh, Jaffar and Sikander Singh. It had also arrested Harminder Singh from Zira for allegedly creating special cavities in the two taxies of Ranjit Sonu.
The sources revealed following their interrogation, the police had zeroed in on several residents allegedly involved in cross-border drug smuggling in Rajatal and Dauke border villages.
