Barnala woman resists advances, set ablaze

BARNALA: A woman suffered burn injuries after her neighbour allegedly set her room on fire following her refusal to have physical relations with him last night.

Barnala, March 17

A woman suffered burn injuries after her neighbour allegedly set her room on fire following her refusal to have physical relations with him last night. The accused also sustained injuries. Both have been admitted to a Chandigarh hospital.

As per the FIR registered at City police station, the accused, Rattan Singh, entered the victim’s house on the Sanghera road by scaling the outer wall while she was alone. Her husband works as a trucker driver and was away last night.

Rattan started pressurising her for having physical relations, but when she refused, he opened the pipe of an LPG gas stove in the room for some time and then set the room on fire. Since Rattan was also in the same room, he also sustained burn injuries. Neighbours took both to the Barnala Civil Hospital from where they were referred to Chandigarh. “We have registered a case against Rattan Singh,” said ASI Surinder Pal Singh. Further investigations are on. — TNS
