Fazilka, October 2
The BJP’s Farmers Coordination Committee, Punjab, has approached the chiefs of 30 agitating farmer unions, highlighting the benefits of the new laws.
The eight-member committee, headed by former BJP minister Surjit Kumar Jyani, was constituted by state BJP president Ashwani Sharma on September 29 to discuss, persuade and address the concerns of farmers.
Jyani, who is also the former president of the BJP Kisan Morcha, Punjab, said of the 31 protesting unions that he had spoken to, chiefs of 30 had assured him of considering their offer for talks. — OC
