Residents of Muktsar district have been facing “unscheduled” power cuts up to five hours daily in this winter season.
Sanjeev Maluja, a resident of Malout town, said: “We are facing unscheduled power cuts of one-two hours twice or thrice daily. The situation is the same in the night as well. The authorities concerned are, however, not sharing any information related to the power cuts with consumers.”

Gidderbaha town resident Harvinder Singh said the power cuts had become the order of the day. “Hardly a day passes when the power cuts of four-five hours is not imposed. We are even unable to run room heaters at night.”
Ranjit Singh, a Gurusar village resident, said: “We are facing power cuts of nearly five hours daily. In some WhatsApp groups, we get the information about the power cuts in advance from the power grid.”
Asked, Ravinder Kumar, Executive Engineer of PSPCL, Muktsar, said: “Power cuts are being imposed as per total availability of power. Cuts are being imposed in the agriculture sector also.”
