The Focal Point United Industries Association has urged Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to give incentive to those employees, who detect power thefts and get stuck payments released.

In a communiqué to the PSPCL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Kamal Dalmia, the association chairman, said the power corporation was incurring huge losses on account of the electricity theft, besides a large amount was stuck due to non-payment of tariff by consumers or disputed cases, lying pending in courts. He suggested that the PSPCL should come out with an incentive scheme for its employees.

Davinderpal Singh, association president, also suggested that some percentage of the tariff recovered should be paid to the PSPCL employees. Workers instrumental in detecting theft cases and recovering disputed outstanding tariff should be given a pat on their back to start a competition among employees to perform better, he said.

He reminded that for instance the Custom Department was already following this scheme.
