Chandigarh, January 2
As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to decline in the state, the government has started ending MoUs signed for intensive care facilities with private players. A first such MoU was cancelled with Gian Sagar Medical College on Thursday.
In a message last week by the Managing Director, Punjab Health Systems Corporation, Civil Surgeons were told that the college was being closed for government Covid patients from January 1. The MoU was signed on March 24 last year. As many as 12 patients were admitted there from three districts. The college was catering to four districts. Sources said the decision was taken in view of the decline in the cases. Similarly, contract of the staff and volunteers (including security guards and lab technicians) hired under the disaster relief fund was also cancelled. — TNS
