Local SAD leaders and SGPC members from the Ajnala constituency on Wednesday announced to support party SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

They accused expelled leader Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala and his son Amarpal Singh Bony of spreading a baseless propaganda against the party president.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, member of the SGPC’s executive committee Amreek Singh Vishoa; SGPC member Kuldeep Singh Tera; Savinder Singh Sehsara and Gulbagh Singh Billa, both circle presidents; and former zila parishad member Baldev Singh Bhoewali said the Ajnala family had stabbed in the back of the party despite enjoying privileges for years.

They said former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and party president Sukhbir Badal had always favoured the Ajnala family from ensuring party tickets for the Assembly and Parliamentary elections to giving coveted posts in the party and the government.

Justifying their expulsion from the party, SAD leaders said party’s discipline was sacrosanct for all leaders as well as workers.

“The Ajnala family did not show any respect to their party while rubbing shoulders with the rivals openly. They even levelled malicious and unfounded accusations against the party and senior leadership at the behest of vested interests. It is the reason for their expulsion from the party and it was a collective decision of the party,” they added.
