Amritsar, April 13

As a part of a year-long commemorative programme to celebrate the 40th year of Spring Dale Senior School, actor and theatre person Juhi Babbar Soni’s play ‘With Love, Apki Saiyara’ was staged at the art gallery.

The play was presented by Ekjute theatre group and written and directed by Juhi Babbar Soni. Amristar South MLA Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjer, Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi were the guests of honour.

The play was centred around a female protagonist and was a befitting tribute to the spirit of modern Indian woman, who stands for herself and dares to overlook the stereotypes and social stigmas. It reflected on the current and past struggles of women, who have dared to dream and followed the uncharted path, despite societal judgement. Juhi penned down a play after a gap of nine long years in 2021 and it has been staged across several prominent cities and platforms ever since. She played the role of the titular character showing her prowess as an actor on stage with spontaneity and charm while exploring the various emotions that a woman undergoes as she chooses not to become a victim, but a survivor.

Addressing the gathering after the play, Dr Kirat Sandhu Cheema, director, Spring Dale Educational Society, shared that the play was quite befitting to the theme of the 40th foundation day of the school.

“Women empowerment is something that has been one of the core purposes supported by the Spring Dale family. It is a true testimony of the Spring Dale ethos and the institution has been a flag-bearer of social uplift and youth empowerment,” she said.
