The police have booked two persons for fraud after one of them sold his matriculation certificate to the other.

The incident came to light after he lodged a complaint of stealing of Matric certificate with the police. The police probe also indicted the complainant, Kulmeet Singh, a resident of Sarai Amant Khan in Tarn Taran, in the case. The other accused was Manjinder Singh of Tapiala village who is currently serving in the Army.

ASI Jaspal Singh, who is the investigating officer, said after Kulmeet Singh lodged a complaint with the police, the police started investigation which led to revelation that he sold his certificate to the other accused, Manjinder Singh, for Rs 6.30 lakh. On the basis of the certificate, he was recruited in the Army.

As Kulmeet was finding it difficult to get a passport, he decided to lodge a police complaint against Manjinder who managed to get a passport on the certificate of Kulmeet.

Finding both of them guilty, the cantonment police registered a case under Sections 419, 420 and 120-B of the IPC against the duo while no arrest has been made so far.
