3,545 pre-primary kids enrolled

AMRITSAR: As many as 3,545 kids have been admitted to pre-primary wing of various government schools in the district till January 17.

As many as 3,545 kids have been admitted to pre-primary wing of various government schools in the district till January 17.

In 2017, the state government had begun the process to enrol kids above three years of age in nursery, LKG and UKG classes.

These figures are part of the enrolment drive carried out by the Education Department–Each One Bring One.

Under the drive, teachers and officials of the Education Department are creating awareness among masses regarding the admission to pre-primary classes.

As many as 3,545 kids have taken admission in 15 blocks of the district. The Amritsar-2 block has reported the highest number of admissions — 511.

The entire idea of the drive is to increase the number of students in the government school at the pre-primary level. An official of the education department confirmed the numbers.
