Abhinav Sharma cracked a double ton while opener Abhishek Sharma smashed 107 off 116 balls to propel Amritsar to a mammoth 404 against Hoshiarpur on the opening day of their Punjab Inter-District U-23 Championship match at Gandhi Grounds today.

Amritsar had a poor start to their innings as they lost their first two wickets cheaply. However, a 203-run stand between Abhishek and Abhivan helped the side end the day on a decent note. The partnership was finally broken when Ashish Ghai claimed Abhishek for 107.

Abhinav, at the other continued to hammer the visitors as he piled almost a run-a-ball 215. His unbeaten 214-ball inning was studded with 18 boundaries and eight sixes.

The duo put on an unbeaten 201-run partnership for the fourth wicket as the hosts declared their innings closed at 404/3.

Patiala, meanwhile, stayed ahead of visitors Mohali after Sanvir Singh scored 115 runs on the opening day at Dhruv Pandove stadium to help the hosts close the opening day at 431/6.
