Amritsar, February 15

The Municipal Corporation (MC) will display the names and mobile numbers of senior officials in every locality for the convenience of residents. Officials have received such feedback from residents during awareness programmes being conducted under the Swachh City programme.

Residents told officials that it was quite difficult to contact the officials concerned to fix sanitation issues.

The health wing of the MC has planned to display mobile numbers of head of the departments and concerned heads of areas on walls and boards in every locality.

Dr Raju Chowan, Municipal Health Officer, said boards would be displayed soon to facilitate the residents.

The MC has also launched a Swachtta mobile application, designed by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The objective of the mobile application is to redress the complaints of city residents within 24 hours.

Whenever someone uploads a photograph on the app, the department comes to know about the exact location through the GPS, and MC employees are despatched to remove the garbage. After completing the task, the safai karmcharis inform the sanitary officials concerned, following which inspectors visit the place and click a photograph of the cleaned space and revert it to the complainant immediately.

“Those who can’t use application can call the authorities to complain about the garbage,” said the official.
