Kulbir Singh Khalsa, chief of Sikh Dharma International, has called upon the 14th Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetans, to participate in the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Khalsa, son of late Sri Singh Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogi, stated in a press release that he went to Dharamshala to invite the Tibetean spiritual leader. “The founder of Sikhism had visited eastern as well as western Tibet in the 15th century. His impact on this region is profound. Known as Guru Rinpoche (precious teacher), images of Guru Nanak can still be seen in Buddhist monasteries in eastern Tibet.

“Dalai Lama and his people have suffered a lot. It is very uplifting to hear him speaking with gentleness and hope. His consistent message over the years is that there is no answer to problems other than bringing the humanity together in love and peace. We must leave behind greed and aggression and serve people. When you do that, you see all the people equally. Such a message is similar to that of Sarbat Da Bala. This is what we believe in.”
