Three members of a fake travel agent’s family of Bhaini Mattuan village, 20 km from here, have been booked under Sections 420 and 120-B, IPC, by the Chabal police.

The police said the accused include Gurjant Singh, his father Devinder Singh and mother Naridner Kaur. The case has been registered on the complaint of Jaswant Singh of Panjwar Khurd village. He said the accused lured his son Harpreet Singh about four years back saying that they would send him abroad and get him a job there and took an amount of Rs 6 lakh from him. Jaswant Singh said about two years back, the accused Gurjant Singh called his son, Harpreet Singh, to Cyprus where he lost his son’s passport and other documents. He handed over his son to the police there. Harpreet Singh was sent to jail by the police in Cyprus, as a result he lost his mental balance due to the rough treatment meted out to him. The accused, Gurjant Singh, after handing over Harpreet Singh to the police in Cyprus came back to India.

Jaswant Singh has been requesting the local police here to lodge a complaint against the accused for the past one and a half years. The case was registered late last evening.
